granola.

I love granola. It's nutty and crunchy and simply delicious. 

I also love how versitile it is. You can create any flavour profile you want using different spices, dried fruits, and/or nuts. You can make granola as sweet as you want or as savoury as you want; the options are endless!

With that, I have come to absolutely LOVE Fraiche Nutrition's Cardamom Granola (see below). I'm always more heavy handed with the cardamom and vanilla and rarely add coconut. But no matter what alterations you make to this recipe, you will love it. 

 

 

Ingredients:  

2 c. oats

0.25 c. hemp seeds

0.5 c. shredded coconut (optional)

0.5 c. roughly chopped pecans

0.5 c. roughly chopped almonds

1.5t cinnamon

2t ground cardamom

0.25 c. vegetable oil

0.33 c. honey or maple syrup

1t vanilla

pinch of salt

 

 

 

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 300F.

  2. Combine the oats, hemp seeds, coconut, pecans, almonds, cinnamon, cardamom and sea salt in a large bowl.

  3. In a small bowl combine the oil, honey or maple syrup and vanilla and whisk together.

  4. Pour the wet mixture on top of the oat mixture and stir to combine.

  5. Spread the mixture evenly on a large parchment lined baking sheet and bake, stirring occasionally, until the granola is lightly browned, around 30 minutes.

  6. Remove from the oven to cool.

 

Once you make granola at home, you'll never want to buy it from the store again.

It's tastier and far less expensive. 
Plus, you have the added bonus of knowing what exactly is in it.
